Where did the Raders come from ?
You have probably come to the same conclusion that I have. They were all over Europe. I am finding more in the Rhine River valley than anywhere else. That is probably because that is where I am searching !
I am focusing on my ancestor Casper Rader (1732-1812). On page 3 your will see a Casper born in 1732 with his parents Hans Conradt Reitker and wife Verena Hiltibrand. The went to the Carolinas in 1738 ?
Do you have any Rietikers in Carolina in 1732 ?

ADAM AND ANNA MARIA RÖDER, Mutterstadt
This area is just a few miles south west of Mannheim near the Rhine River.
Conrad Röder came from Driedorf
which is between Frankfurt and Bonn. in the Westerwald region.
Etters, who Casper Rötter's sons married from the Fribourg Canton of Switzerland
This is on Lake Neuchreel about 200 km from Lake Constance.
Since then I have found:
Frederick Roetter's ancestors are from Adelmansfelda
which is between Elwagen and Swabish Hall, The church book of the ONLY church is full of Roetters.
Radersburg Montana
From Broadwater Bygones, A History of Broadwater Co., Montana
by Elsie Ralls (406) 266-4286
Box 410013
Radersburg, MT 59641-0013
Radersburg Montana, a boom mining town from the early 1880s, one of the first in the Territory, has a unique history of true Western charm. From a dignified county seat of Jefferson County as well as a rough mining camp in 1869 with a population of 1000, it developed and boomed by rich mines opening on all sides.
Radersburg received its name from the founder, Reuben Rader, and is located 13 miles from Toston on Crow Creek, the former hunting grounds of the Crow Indians evidenced by the tepee (tipi) rings, buffalo jumps and artifacts still being found in the area. In 1865 when Jefferson County was formed, Reuben Rader was appointed one of its first county commissioners.
Unlike so many mining camps in Montana, Radersburg did not lapse into a ghost town even though its population dwindled from 1000 in the early '60s to 200 in 1880; 1900, 305, and climbed again to 425 in 1910 and now claims 75 inhabitants.(1963)
.
Do you have a Reuben Rader in Roanoke, VA 1850 ?
Founder of Radersburg
When a certain boy was born in 1842 in Roanoke, Virginia to bear the name of Reuben Rader, little did anyone realize that this person at the age of 21 years was to leave his native state to journey west and not only discover the first gold in the district but become the founder of a small Montana town - Radersburg. As did most of the trains of covered wagon that crossed the plains have trials, so did Rader's company. He arrived on horseback in the area that was to bear his name as early as 1863, so history reveals.
He acquired large acerages of land and along with mining he became a leading citizen and cattleman. He deeded 40 acres of his land for the township of Radersburg, used his equipment (horses and scrapers) to level the land for its first courthouse. In 1865 when Jefferson County was formed he became its first county commissioner.
The name Reuben Rader is now a legend. In 1875 he was married to Cora A. Herrick, the two making one of the first and most hospitable homes in the area. The log structure still stands (1974) in the northerly end of "The Burg". Mr Rader died in 1905 leaving his wife and three children, Lee, Clifford and Mamie, the boys staying on for a number of years and then settled in Envermere and Cranbrook, B.C. Mamie married A. Franklin and had two daughters and is now deceased. Three other children of Mr and Mrs. Rader were Daisy, Earl and Nellie who died early in life and the family plot in the Radersburg cemetery
I called Elsie Ralls on April 22, 1993 and had a nice talk with her. She said that she had additional information that she would send on this line of Raders.
Lists of
Swiss Emigrants in the Eighteenth Century to the American ColoniesCompiled and Edited by Albert Bernhardt Faust and Gaius Marcus Brumbaugh
Volume I
Zurich 1734-1744
Another Casper born in 1732 ?
This list first caught my attention because of son Caspar. I then checked ALL Carolina sources for this surname (Rietiker) and found none. I then went to Pennsylvania sources with the same result, none found !
Have you seen this family anywhere in your searches ?

Johannes Etter - Otter- Atterley, a man, 40 years old. There is actually an Etter family which has home rights in the neighborhood west of the city of Bern. The name of the woman who is apparently the wife of this man, and who is of the same age as he, is given as Mirgat Otlersin (??). In a separate report concerning the Kurt family a Daniel Etter is mentioned who was in Pennsylvania in 1749
From the letter of a certain Daniel Etter of Pennsylvania it is seen that he advises the emigrants not to pay for their own passage, but to give their money to this Hans Jacob Walter. The Landvogt is instructed to warn the people against the questionable counsels of this man.

Pre 1790 Records (entire country)
Have you been looking at those advertisements for Genealogy data on CD_ROM ? I went beyond looking and joined GENESYS, added a CD ROM reader to my computer, and started extracting data.
I decided to statr through their United States Census Index. The following is from "CD 136, Pre 1790 Colonial America Census, Tax and other lists" It is their attempt to cover the whole country. As you can see it is not very complete, but it is the best available todate.
-Data Formats -
The formats on these databases are a combination of many different formats due to the many different databases that were created over a period of many years by Accelerated Indexing System International. Automated Archives Inc., has tried to standardize the formats as much as practical. Note that none of the databases contain entries in every field. Every field that was listed in the origianal record has been preserved.
Township Field: Many records have no listing for the township, but that can be derived from the page number listed. If you refer to the Census Schedule for the county referred to, the townships will be listed and will show you the page number that they start on.
Notes Field: Many records have a series of numbers within the notes field.
The meaning of these numbers is as follows.
Example: 01010 - 02210 - 06
(males 5 digits)-
(females 5 digits)-
(free negros/indians 1 digit) (total number in household)
(Slaves 1 or 2 digits) (total number in household
5 Digits breakdown as follows
1st digit - number in household age 10 & under
2nd digit - number in household age 11-15
3rd digit - number in household age 16-20
4th digit - number in household age 21-45
5th digit - number in household age 46+
The example would break down as follows:
1 male age 11-15
1 male age 21-45
2 females ages 11-15
2 females ages 16-20
1 female age 21-45
6 slaves
Census Schedules: Many of the schedules for the referenced Census's and
Tax lists have been included withing the CD. Please refer to the Schedule
for the specific contents of the schedule.
