First attempt to collect ALL OF THE

Rader, Raeder, Reader, Röder, Roeder, Rötter

families in America

Compiled by James L. Rader

September 1992

I've printed a book which will make all of the Rader information, currently in the computer, available to you. Prior to this all that I had produced was the descendants of three immigrants; Casper, George, and Adam. There was no complete index. Because of the method of presentation, it cost me $75 per set without a binding.

The primary reason to produce this book was to encourage the sharing of information. The more people that review the book, the more corrections will be suggested.

I have not attempted to make decisions as to which date was right when conflicting dates are available. I want the descendants to collect the proofs and present them in a book on their line.

This book is meant as a beginning point to your Rader research project.

It has few references and proofs.

It has many errors.

The sources are not conclusive, If your ancestor was Andrew Jackson Rader or George Washington Rader you would tend to think that there could only be one by that name. The index in this book will show you more than six persons by each of those names.

In an attempt to keep this book down to a size that could be bound as one book I have left out most persons born after the 1920's. I did not do that to slight anyone or even with the higher goal of protection of privacy. If you want that information on your line let me know.

I also left out all pictures, maps, and graphics. This was also done to reduce the cost. I want to get all of the information into your hands as inexpensively as I could. I did not go to a book printer because the minimum run with them is 400 books and the cost of those 400 books is measured in thousands of dollars. If you know someone who would like to fund a $10,000 to $20,000 book, I would be pleased to produce it !

Further if you want to produce a book of your own line, I would be pleased to use my data base and the "ROOTS III" program to produce a rough draft. This draft can be either on "paper" or "IBM compatible floppy disk" (for use with your word processor). You can then add your family stories, pictures, and proofs for the relationships. I would consider it an honor to be the first to buy a copy of your finished work!

This work has been done for several of the lines in this book; Adam Röder (pg 10), Johann Michael (pg 133), and Henry Rader (pg 350). These works are currently in print and I encourage you to purchase copies of them. There are also many works with "Rader lines" in them and those would be valuable additions to your collection.

CONROD RÖDER - Immigrant

Conrad Röder died in South Manheim township, Schuylkill Co., PA

As far as we know he was NOT related to any of the other Colonial lines in america. There are many interesting sons for whom we have no information.

Johannes "Yohannes" Röder born 13 Mar 1780

Johan Rader born 31 Mar 1808

John Röder born after 1800

George Röder born after 1800

David Röder born circa 1830

and many others

Do you have any information on these people ?

Herbert Rader of Germantown, PA. spent many years cerca 1940-1950 researching this line. His corespondents with researchers in Germany allowed him to prove the city of origin. He had the one piece of information that we all search for, He had the immigrants bible. On the next page you will see the photo reproduction which translates to:

I Conrad Röder was born the 13th May 1751 in the town of Driedorf in Nasau (Nassau) Diellenburg

I have received some of his letters and work on the Summer Hill Church book. I do not have any copies of other pages of the bible.

Has anyone seen this bible ?

In addition to translating the summer hill church books he lead a tour to Germany before his death. In preparation for this trip he was corresponding with:

Evangel. Pfarramt

Driedorf

Hesse-Nassau

West Germany

His letter of 4 June 1953 states

"About 15 years ago I corresponded with a Herr Scholl of Stuttgart. He obtained considerable information about my immigrant ancestor Conrad Röder born in 1751, Reg 533 No 33. He informed me that the family was still in Driedorf and represented by Ernst Röder.

The following pages include several important documents pertaining to this line of Raders. With your help we can obtain the maximum information from them. Please send me a copy of your translation of them. I will publish the translations in next quarter's Rader Ramblings.

    Wear your Query !

In preparation for my trip to the libraries of Pennsylvania I had T Shirts printer with my query. The front has the signature from Casper Rader's will and the back has the signature from his Oath of Allegiance.

    BACK OF T SHIRT

    Johan Casper Rötter.

    arrived ship Edinburg

    13 AUG 1750 at Philadelphia

    Where did he go?

    FRONT OF T SHIRT

    Casper Roter

    Died, 16 Jun 1812,

    Wythe County Virginia.

Where did he come from ?

You might think about doing the same for your Rader ancestor. If your ancestor happens to be Casper you can save some money. I have paid to create the silk screens at a cost of $20.

I can have additional shirts painted for about $10 each.

Other types of clothing are available at reasonable costs.

    If you want this service

drop me a line and I will get current prices to you.

    Caspers actual will

While I was in Virginia Mary Kegley obtained a copy of Casper Rader's probated will. This is the actual document he signed, it is not the will in the county recorder's book.

In the case of Wythe county Virginia, they keep the probated wills in metal boxes in the basement. When you order a copy of the will from the county they send you the scribes copy in the book of wills. If the will was probated in that county you will find the actual will on file elsewhere. The Front of the T Shirt has the German scribes copy of his signature. The signature below is the actual signature.
