Hi Mr. Rader:
First, I really appreciate all the hard work you do for the Raders. I descend from Henry Rader of NC. Specifically Anna Maria{Mary} Rader who married Michael Cook in Jan 1823 in NC. They along with 5 children came here to Hancock Co. abt. 1840, one further child, Joseph was born in 1842. While Anna and Michael were separated in NC during the 1830's she had 3 other children by an unknown married man in the community where she lived. Those 3 remained in NC and were put up for adoption shortly before Michael and Mary moved to Hancock Co. These 3 actually listed Michael Cook as their father, although this was not so. Their descendants carry the Cook name. Michael refused to bring them to TN, so the reason for going thru the court as orphans of Mary Cook. At any rate Michael and Mary finished raising the 6 here and never
wavering again. They left many descendants which I have several of.
There's also one other thing I don't think Cecil Cannon Rhodes or other Rader researchers are aware of. Joseph Rader, brother of Anna Maria didn't disappear in NC. He moved here to Grainger Co.{abt a mile from Anna and Mick} probably around 1845. He and wife Mary Ann Fox purchased land in Grainger Co. in 1854 and lived here til death around 1862 or 3. They always had a lot of nephews, neices and grandchildren living with them. One of their granddaughters Martha Ann Margaret Elizabeth Jane Rader married my Great Grandfather Wm.Nelson Collins, thus tying me into Joseph's line as well as Anna Maria's. I have my Rader info on Gedcom if it would be of any interest to you. I don't mean to offend anyone with this information. None of our ancestors were perfect and I respect all of them. There were many reasons I'm sure that we will never know as to what precipitated some of their actions. I descend from Michael and Mary's daughter Elizabeth. She married a Jessee Collins who was a cousin
of the above Wm N. Their son Peter Collins {GF} Changed his name back to Cook when his mother Elizabeth died in 1912. My father george was born as a Collins in 1902, but when Peter changed his name then of course my dad grew up as a Cook. Which explains why I'm a Cook. This May sound messed up but its actually one of my least complicated lines. Too many
cousins marrying cousins.
Warmest Regards,
Bill Cook

Dear Richard Ipsen,
I have found a file at the archive of the "Akademie der Künste" in Berlin, Hansaplatz, which stated, that a Johan Georg Raeder has studied in the early years of the 17th century (1709) at the "Königliches Eleven Institut Berlin". Is their a link between him and the person you are looking for? Was he returning to Germany after 1686?
Best wishes,

My most wanted ancestor is only 2 generations back! My grandmother (Lura Azalee RADER) married Henry RADER in Greene County and moved to Texas with Him in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Her maiden name was RADER and she did marry a RADER. Henry died in Texas and she remarried to Charles Otis WELLBORN on Sept. 22, 1915. She and her two children (son was my father Paul Mason WELLBORN) returned to Tennessee circa 1925 where she remained until her death in 1970. I know NOTHING about my grandfather or his family. The last clue I have is He was in a nursing home in Louisanna in the 50's. I think he probably died in
La but have no further info.
Thanks for ANY information.

I'm not sure if you are the person who emailed me over a month ago, but if it was I lost your email address. I am the person with the photo of the grave of Johannes Roder and Hermine Roder. I am attaching the photo, maybe someone will claim it, and I will be happy to mail it on to them. It was found in a book in a antique store in Berlin.

re: RHOEDERMAL
I have many Rader lines in your Putnam co which were Roeders in PA what happened to RHOEDERMAL in later times ?
Hi Jim,
This is what i have on Sarah (Rhoedermal) Nixon
TAKEN FROM THE PUTNAM RECORD, HENNEPIN, IL April 4, 1917
Mrs. David Nixon
We are indebted to Mrs. Kate Biever of Hennepin Township for the following:
Obituary of Mrs. David Nixon, a former resident of Putnam County and will be remember by many of our citizens, who will regret to learn of her passing. The deceased was a cousin of Mrs. Biever. The obituary was taken from the Sac City, Iowa, Sunday March 15, 1917 Mrs. David Nixon died at her home in Sac City about 6:00 o’clock last Friday morning, March 9, 1917.
While Mrs. Nixon had not been in good health, her passing at that time was wholly unexpected. The evening before her death, she and her husband sat up late visiting with former neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Moody who had come to call on them and she retired apparently in her usual health. Mr. Nixon arose about 5:00 in the morning to give attention to the fire and then returned to bed noting that at this time his wife was sleeping naturally. He dropped into a doze when he was awakened by a slight disturbance, he found her breathing her last.
The funeral was held at the Christian Church on Sunday afternoon at 2:30. o’clock. The funeral discourse was delivered by Reverend J. Erving Brown, pastor. Mrs. Nixon’s maiden name was Sara Rhoedermal. She was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Sept. 16, 1849 and there she grew to young womanhood. At Florid, Putnam Co. IL, on Christmas day, of 1878, she was married to David Nixon and they resided there until their removal to Iowa. They arrived in Sac County on Feb. 14, 1882 and settled first on a farm in Jackson township, moving afterward to Cedar Township. About 11 years ago came to Sac City to reside.
To Mr. and Mrs. Nixon were born 4 children, namely A.B. Nixon of Sac City, Merdie Mae wife of Jessie Quail of Albert City, Iowa; Chester J. who died in Portland Oregon, March 17, 1914; and Inez, wife of Louise Kraft of Sac City. Samuel J. Nixon is a stepson who received from her a mother’s care.
Beside her husband and three children, Mrs. Nixon leaves 6 grandchildren. About 20 years ago she was united with the Christian Church in Sac City and continued until the end a loyal member. A large congregation of her neighbors and friends crowded the church to its capacity on the day of the funeral to testify their affection and high regard for the departed one and their sympathy for those who mourn.
Relatives from a distance present at the funeral were Mrs. R.H. Smith, a sister of Mr. Nixon and her daughter Mrs. Charles Hammerock of Sheffield, IL; Mrs. Smith’s daughter-in-law, Mrs. D.A. Smith of Rowen, Iowa and Mrs. Samuel A. Smith of Belmond, Iowa; Mrs. Ethel Nixon of Marathon, wife of Chester Nixon, deceased; and Reverend F.B. Nixon of Alta, a nephew of Mrs. Nixon.
Rader as a place in Poland
As I search for the origin of my early american immigrant his surname does not occur very many places. My father used to say we were Jews from Alsace but I do not find any Roetters is that part of Europe. The most common place for me to find the name is Early Poland. I recently picked up a place name book with the title of "Ortsnamrnverzeichnis der Ortschaften jenseits von Oder und Neisse"
I don't read the language but on page 138 it has
old german name - new communist name
Roter Hahn - s Waldpforte s = suche
Roter Hof - Kr Reichenbach - pV pV = poinische Verwaltung
Roter Strumpf - Kr Neustettin - pV
I was told that these are places in Poland and surrounding areas and the new names they were given. Do you know if the origin of our Roetter name is from the color red (Rot) ?

Thanks for answering my e-mail. I am searching for my ancestor, Mary (possibly Mary C. for Catherine?) Rador (or Rader or Raydor)b. 1833? possibly VA. I do know she married William B. Shortridge in 1857 in the western part of VA, possibly Tazewell. This family stayed in VA.
This is all I have, and wondered if you could be of any help on this lady. She is my Great Grandmother.
Thank you for any help you can be, Diane Shortridge Reed
