We have actual German Genealogy, A Rader family

(continued on page 6)

The second Attempt (Now -August 1995)

I just completed 3 months of fighting software to produce the "Second attempt". Your contributions to this work are keeping me very busy. As you know the "First Attempt was 367 pages of Genealogy plus indexes, this work is now 754 pages plus indexes. The "first" was in 1992, 3 years ago, which means that in 3 years the size of our collected work has doubled. I bet you can guess the size of the 1998 version !

The Third Attempt (1998)

While we are on that track, the next version will probably be on CD-ROM. Why ? The size and cost of publishing the work and the cost of adding pictures to the collection. I think we should add pictures to the work. To print pictures adds to the cost considerably, a page of text costs about 10 cents to print in our low volume. One page with 4 pictures will cost about $1 to produce in color high resolution.

Back to the Issue now ready for print !

Many of you requested that the work be published "by Location". I hope the final result meets with your approval. I broke the work apart by where the pioneer lived. I first produced the usual genealogy including ALL descendants of each immigrant. But as you know Adam Röder is a sizeable book in itself. So to accomplish the goal of regionalistic the work I moved down the family tree to children or grandchildren. My goal, "to create chapters smaller than 50 pages which include all known descendants of a particular RADER.

The 5 volumes became:

1-Pennsylvania, 2-Virginia & North Carolina, 3-Tennessee, 4-Iowa and vicinity, 5-the rest

I then added an Every person index to each volume. The hardest thing to add was the Location index. These indexes allow you to find people either by name or location.

Then came Volume 6 - Total Index this started as an Every person index and a Location index for the Five volumes. Then I remembered the problems we have had with spelling of our ancestors names in colonial records. Thus came the Comprehensive index of Rader like names. In this work I took all 31 spellings of the surname and created an index by First name, middle name and nickname, I threw in the Year of Birth and Death to complete the work !

The Comprehensive index of Rader like names is the complete tool to find your ancestor !.

I created a Comprehensive Index of Rader like names for those people trying to find their ancestors. This is how our ancestors spelled their name. This list of first names, middle names, nick-names (with year of birth and death) will allow you to find your ancestor without knowing how to spell his last name.

Where in Germany do we find Raders ?

This is a sample of the place name index from volume #6. This sample also shows you ALL of the places in Germany that we have found Raders. Don’t think these are all Rader home lands, some of these are war brides birth places or soldier’s death places !
