I am the granddaughter of Marion & Sarah's son, Charles Marion Spangle.
I have been in contact with many older Spangles who do research and are grandchildren of Marion and his wife Sarah Melinda Bowen. We don't have Marion as being married to Mary Elizabeth Rader.
However, Marion had a brother named William Stover Spangle that married Minnie Eva Rader on 17 Jan 1895. And because I haven't been in contact with everyone, can you confirm William Stover Spangle & Minnie Eva Rader had sons, Van, Jack and Sherman? And that Van married a "Vanda" or "Wanda"?

I got this from Helen Moore who got it from Agnes and Don Stover... IRA A. RADER 1887-1958 <http://www.earlyaviators.com/erader.htm> REMEMBER? Ira A. Rader, Colonel, A. F. (ret.), Route 3, Hendersonville, N. C., looked out toward the East July 30, 1887, at Mayten, Calif., had his schooling at Alameda, a year at the University of California and the U. S. Military Academy, graduating 1911 to serve as 2/Lieut. of Infantry. Shortly he heard Uncle Sam had purchased another Wright and a Curtiss and he submitted himself to examination for fitness. Making this objective he returned momentarily to California for flying instruction at the Signal Corps Aviation School, San Diego, starting Dec. 8, 1914. He soloed May, 1915, in a Martin T, one of the first such delivered, won the FAI rating #327, June 16, 1915, and was detailed in the AS, SC, as a 1/Lieut. JMA as of July 14, 1915 He shortly suffered with those eight JN2s at the fire control operations at Fort Sill as a member of the First Aero Squadron. He was one of the group which made the first squadron flight of 6 planes (now altered to JN3s) from Fort Sill to San Antonio. They covered the 439 miles in 8 elapsed days. On March 13, 1916, Monday morning, the squadron left Fort Sam Houston for the border and duty with Pershing's punitive expedition, there flying the N8s which the Signal Corps ordered for border duty. In September he was ordered to Washington and to Mineola where he joined Captain Carberry at the aviation station on one side of the Wright company's field. This station operated as a test station that summer for Barlow bombs, sights and all manner of other equipment and instruments. So much for the early days. By David H. Grover From AVIATION HISTORY Magazine Didier Masson sat in the pilot's seat and warmed up his open biplane on a primitive runway in the hills of the Mexican state of Sonora. He was apprehensive over what was about to take place. A French citizen who had entered Mexico illegally from the United States, he was not concerned that he was about to become a participant in a revolution of a country in which he had no stake. Ideologies were no problem to a mercenary, and it was clearly Masson's passion for flying, not his passion for the revolutionary cause, that had taken him to Mexico. His concern, instead, was that he knew very little about what his new flying assignment would demand of him in terms of skill, and even less about how much danger was involved.
