1. George Rader Jr,  was born in 1784 in Brocks Gap area of Rockingham Co., VA. ¹ and died on 6 Oct 1861 in Time, Pike Co, IL ² at age 77.

the George RADER family. I've been studying my RADER line "off & on" for several years & have looked at this George RADER (Jr.) as a possible nephew to my ancestor, John RADER, listed below. I believe it is an error to say that this George RADER Jr. was born in PA. This is why....

The George RADER that married Margaret Whitlatch in West Union Twp, Adams Co, OH, was not born in Nazareth Twp, Northampton Co, PA. 1784. This is the same George Jr. that is seen in the early Adams Co. Tax list:

Margaret Whitlatch-RADER died in 1840, Salem Twp. (Highland Co.) OH. & George married 2nd Mariah Landis later that year. They were still in Highland Co. for the 1850 census, where George is listed born in VA. Yes, George Jr. died 06 Oct 1861 in Time, (Pike Co.) IL. But not before he was listed in the 1860 census as born in VA. The Whitlatch family is clearly listed in the Adams Co. census records on the same pages with the Rader's of Adams Co. OH. There was ANOTHER George RADER listed in the 1850 census in Fairfield Co., OH, born in PA. This same man & his son George Jr. were in the 1830, Fairfield Co. OH. Census, showing that they are not the same RADER's that were in Adams & Highland Co, OH. Both of these George’s were born in 1784. So here is another “George” confusion. I’m aware of the RADER’s in Fairfield Co., OH & although they may be related, I think they have been confused with the RADER’s in Adams & Highland counties, OH. I believe that I have enough evidence to say that the Rader's of Adams Co., OH (including George Sr. & Jr.) came from the Brocks Gap area of Rockingham Co., VA.

Death Notes: Grandfather George Rader lived to be quite old; he was strong, was killed by a team running off. ( about 1865 or perhaps later). He came from Penn.

In 1820 George was living at Clermont Co., OH (near
Highland)
In 1826 to 1851 George Rader was living at Salem twp,
Highland Co., OH. On Sept 28, 1840 Geroge purchased lot 53 in
Dodsonville on Turnpike St.

This George Rader moved to Adams Co. with his parents some
time in the early 1800's; purchased land in Highland Co. 19 SEP
1819 moved there soon after.
His father is shown as George Sr. this is speculation,
many younger people used "Jr." when they had an Uncle or
Grandfather by the same name.
