Existing Monument on their graves (hers is gone)
Proposed Monument to be placed on their graves Casper Rader and wife Regina Gerhard 1732-1812 1746-1816 He appears on the passenger list for the ship Edinburgh on 13 Aug 1750 at Philadelphia, as Johan Cassber Rotter. He then appears, in the records, after the French and Indian War at their marriage in Bethel Twp, Lancaster, PA 21 May 1763 as Caspar Roeder to Regina Gerhardt. They surveyed 101 acres of land 16 Aug 1765 which was over the blue mountain on Swatara Creek and Trout Creek in Bethel Twp., Lebanon Co. PA. Before the Revolutionary war they purchased 167 acres of land, 23 May 1770, in East Pennsborough Twp., Cumberland Co., PA for 70 pounds. On 15 Apr 1791 Gasper Rheder and his wife Rachel sold that land for 477 pounds. They came to the Cove before the 1787 Census which shows Gasper Rheder. He obtained an exemption from paying taxes on his blind horse in 1788 and Gasper Reader purchased 200 acres of land for 250 pounds 1 Aug 1789. In 1798 Casper was a deacon of the St. Johns Lutheran Church. He and three of his sons supported the building of the church The 1800 Wythe county tax list indicated his residence northwest of Brush Mountain. He had one male slave and owned 10 horses. When he died there was a free black man on the property and a female slave named Jude ? The will of Casper Roeter was signed 18 May 1812 and admitted to probate 11 Aug 1812. When Rachel died the probate closed with "sundry German books" included the long list of possessions
