Ealy cemetery near Susong Memorial Ch October 1990 Greene County TN by Jim Rader

Bowers house below Ealy Cemetery turn 90 degrees right and look up hill toward cemetery
Rodney Bowers in Cemetery looking at stones
The only readable fragments "Henr" SGT ALLEN M. BRYANT  CO.B  13 TENN. CAV no dates

It has been 10 years since I was there Mr Paul Bowers drove us across the hillside in his 4x4 pickup. The first 2 pictures are of his house and another looking into the hill where the cemetery is.

There was nothing left of what could be called a cemetery. The second two show what is left and the final two show the ONLY stones with writing still readable

I dug out the video tape of the trip to Ely cemetery.

Paul Bowers is the man who lives down below and his neighbor is a Bryant

From the comments by Minnie Reynolds I add the following:

  1. There were 5 Bryant Graves up the hill which were taken down over 50 years ago
  2. There three Feesel graves a little lower
  3. John Goodman was buried there when minnie lived there (probably 70 years ago)
  4. there were more Goodman graves
  5. the Huaffs were buried lower in the hollow with marble stones

the notes below are from Margaret Raders book, probably by her ?

Margaret Rader who died a couple of years ago made some old notes in her copy of Buford Reynolds Greene Co. Cemetery book. And I think Minnie Reynolds also mentioned it on our tour.  The writing is hard to read so I guessed.

  1. Andy Huffs papa had 3 graves pretty marble rocks 1700s
  2. an Minnus old home place Jne Bryants granddaddy buried there Bud Bryants daddy 1917
  3. Henry Feezle & wife & sister buried here used to live on Jno Gregory place
  4. five Allens buried here

The only stone found by Buford was HAUFF, Joseph d 5/5/1852, age 71 yrs. 14 da.
