Family Chronicle - Choosing Genealogy Software

Legacy 4.0 Free

This looks to be better than Legacy ???  http://www.rootsmagic.com  a demo version of RootsMagic is now available for download. The demo is a working copy of RootsMagic that allows you to take the program for a spin and get a feel for the interface and feature set. The demo is limited to 50 people, but it does allow you to import GEDCOM files with more names than that; so, you can try it with your own data if you are using another program. You can download the demo at: http://www.rootsmagic.com/demo.htm

Ouotes from Dick Eastman Plus Edition of Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter http://www.RootsForum.com about "Family Tree Legends"

  1. "you can publish your data on the Web automatically"
  2. "I used SmartMatching this week to look for online records for about 3,000 people in my genealogy database. When I clicked on an icon, Family Tree Legends automatically sent my data to the Web server and then advised me to check back in a few hours. When I did so, I found that the software had returned several hundred matches. In many cases, the newly-delivered information included data about parents, spouses, and siblings. I scanned through the list and could not find one single entry that was NOT an ancestor of mine! In my case, it was 100% accurate. Every single person listed is, indeed, an ancestor of mine."
