This is the class which was at the senior
center without computers. All of the students wanted to move to the
classroom where we have computers and access to Ancestry paid for by the
school. Some of the items planned are Learn to use the internet to find
your ancestors. Use
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/ a free genealogy program to import and
export GEDCOM family tree files and create books using the
www.lulu.com system. We will also cover DNY using the National
Geographic Genographic (www.nationalgeographic.com/genographic)
and
www.familytreeDNA.com

What is
GEDCOM?
It is a file format,
developed by the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints (LDS) to provide a flexible and uniform format for
exchanging computerized genealogical data. GEDCOM is an acronym for
GEnealogical Data COMmunication. A GEDCOM filename ends with the extension of
*.ged (like smith.ged).
